5th International Student Film Festival Hollywood

A couple years back, I edited a film for a couple of fellows named Jeff and Craig. It was s short documentary on sound in the era of Silent Film. But, you say, it was called “Silent Film” because there wasn’t any sound! Oh but there was, and that is what this film covers. In the near future I hope to put up a short trailer here on the site, as well as directions on how to see it or get yourself a copy. For now, if you’re interested just let me know and I can hook you up.

I’m not just mentioning this for nostalgia, however. Recently, the film we made - entitled “The Sounds of Silent Cinema” - was entered in the International Student Film Festival Hollywood, and won Best Documentary. Although it isn’t specifically for editing, this is the first film I’ve worked on in a significant capacity that has won an award, so it’s a pretty exciting time for me.

Here are some tasty items from my childhood (highschool). I have recently unearthed them and uploaded them to YouTube. Rock on.

Portfolio!

Filed under:Drawings, Site Updates, Traditional—Ben@10:05 pm

To further increase my preparedness in the field of applying for jobs, I’ve put up an art portfolio page. You should see the link up at the top navigation bar, or you can find it here. If you are so inclined, it has some of the storyboarding work I’ve done, as well as a few character design things I’ve done, stuff that isn’t up in the normal gallery. Hope you enjoy it.

Hello everyone!

To reflect the fact that I am now a college graduate, and therefor looking for work, I have made a few changes around here, most notably putting something decent behind that “Movies” link. Now you can see some of the movies and motion graphics projects I’ve worked on!

Hopefully we can all expect more changes, although there is an excellent chance that they will be born of my continued unemployment, which is somewhat less than desireable. We shall see.

Punk-rock Math Teacher (w/ optional bat accessory)

This guy totally has a story and everything, but it’s not done yet. As a teaser, you may notice that he has some sort of metallic thing on his chest - his heart has been removed and replaced with special machine heart that gives him nanomachine blood and superpowers. Awesome and symbolic.

{clever refference to fight club}

Remeber Write Club? Of course you don’t because no-one’s reading this. Anyway, it’s back. I’d like to get it started up again, as was sugested several months ago. You can find it here, and if you used to be a member your old username and password should still work.

Updates

Although, as you can see, it’s nothing to shout about, this site is undergoing a slow but definite change. At the moment, I’m revamping the front page here, but pretty soon I’ll be expanding - filling in the pages you see behind those pretty link images up there. I also might set up things like Write Club again, which I would like to see make a come-back. Anyway, that’s what’s going on. I know things are pretty ugly at the moment, but since no-one comes here, I don’t really feel it matters too much.

Ba-zing!

Here it is, kiddies; the brand new Ben’s Pants. Course, no-one goes here anymore, which is why it shut down in the first place, but that doesn’t mean I can’t re-apropriate it for my own unpleasent ends. Which is exactly what I plan to do here.

What can you expect from this new, fantastic site? Well, that there will be a goodly amount of shameless self-promotion should be a given. You’ll probably also see me linking to tentacles I’ve spread out into the web - things like livejournal, Flickr, Deviantart, etc - as well as conducting hideous, terrifying experiements - playing god, if you will. One can only imagine in their most diabolical nightmares what my swollen ego may accomplish. It’s possible that, if people start, like, going here or something, we might see things like message boards - doubtful - or perhaps even the return of things like Write Club, which I think would be cool, but will probably never happen.
